Triesenberg is a municipality in Liechtenstein and has a population of 2564. Perched up in the Alps, it is the largest municipality in Liechtenstein.


Triesenberg is South of Vaduz, up in the Alp mountains with splendid views of Liechtenstein and the Rhine valley.

Triesenberg can be reached by car or by bus.

LIEmobil bus service n°21 links Vaduz Post to Malbun. Bus n°11 and 21 are coordinated, when coming from Schaan, bus n°11 will stop at Vaduz Post a few minutes before n°21.

Bus n°21 goes up to Malbun via Triesenberg every 30 minutes and is coordinated with bus n°11.

The bus stop for the centre of Triesenberg is Triesenberg Post, buses in either direction stop at the same stop, around a little roundabout with a fountain, pay attention to the destination of buses stopping.

Triesenberg is perched on the slopes of the Alp mountains but can be walked. There will be tough slopes. Roads are well paved and gravel footpaths well sign posted. If walking is beyond your skills, bus n°21 goes through Triesenberg from Rizlina and Triesen.

  • The view. Triesenberg is quite literally holding onto the slope of Plattenspitze (1702m) and Chrüppel (1706m). From Triesenberg, one can admire the Rhine valley. The view can be seen from most dwellings in Triesenberg and from above the town. Take bus n°21 get off at Rizlina, the last stop before the tunnel to Malbun. Follow the gravel path to the right and fill your bottle with fresh water from the wooden trough fountain. Have a picnic lunch at the table. There are toilet facilities. The path, Lavadinastrasse, will take you down to Triesenberg and Wangerberg village.
  • Triesenberg centre with its little shops, café and restaurant.
  • Saint Joseph Parish Church in Triesenberg centre.
  • Walser Museum. A museum about village customs with displays of local crafts, sculptures and a traditional hut.
  • Malbun in the municipality of Triesenberg is a quaint skiing resort high in the Alp massive. It can be reached by bus n°21. In Summer, the cable car will take you higher up, you will enjoy some of the most breathtaking views.

Locally produced food and clothing. There is a llama farm, Alpakahof, in Wangerberg village with hand knitted winter hats, gloves and cheese, yoghurt, organically grown seasonable vegetables. The shop is self-service and open 24/7 in a little hut at Chalberrütistrasse 70.
