Pelni boats depart from "Kota Baru" or Pelabuhan Ahmed Yani, the cost to get there is around 10-15000 rupiah by Ojek or 5000 by Angkot. Port Tax is 2000 rupiah.
The public ferry (ASPD) leaves from Bastiong port in Ternate to Sofifi 6 times a day from 6am. Each trip takes 2 hours and costs Rp.19000. (Motorcycles Rp.24000).
The public ferry (ASPD) leaves from Bastiong port in Ternate to Rum, Tidore and back 5-6 times a day from 7am, passengers Rp.7000 (motorbikes Rp.15000). There are also Kapal Kayu (small wood ferries) that leave from Bastiong Talangame port, (just behind the pasar and south of the speed-boat pier) that shuttle to and from Rum, Tidore, passengers Rp.5000 (motorbikes Rp.25000).
There is a public ferry to Jailolo, Halmahera leaving from the Dufa Dufa port at 8am. (As of 9/18 there was a baggage loading mafia that demanded extra money to load and unload foreigner's motorbikes, avoid if possible)
Speedboats operate between Ternate and Tidore, it takes 10 minutes to get there, they only run when there are 8 or more individuals making the trip, Rp.10000 per passenger when full.
Speed-boats between Ternate and Sofifi takes 40-45 minutes and cost Rp.50000 per person.
There is a central station for all of the Angkots. (which doubles as the famous Ikan Bakar Terminal from 7pm)
Susi Air operates subsidised flights from Ternate to Gebe, Galela, Morotai and Mangoli. Flights are typically once or twice a week.
There are many traditional Pasars (markets) and newer supermarkets through-out the town.
There are many 'Jus' (juice) vendors around town and coffee shops are becoming popular.
