Taungoo (Toungoo) is a town and district in Bago Division, Myanmar.

Get in[edit]

Taungoo is about 170 miles away from Yangon. The old road to Taungoo takes about 6-7h. However, now with the new roads, it takes about 3-4h only.

It is mid-way between Yangon and Inle or Mandalay if you want to go by car. Tourists stop over night at Taungoo when they travel from Golden Rock to Inle or Mandalay by hire car.

Some buses can drop you on the main road in front of Pun Swe Taw Hotel where mototaxis are waiting.

Train station is located at southeastern corner of the city center. It is a major stop on the Yangon-Mandalay route.

Mototaxis are available around Mother's house to get to the train station (1000 Ks).

Bicycles can be rented (2000 Ks/day)
