We have Sydney/North Shore and Sydney/North Sydney covering much the same area currently. My thinking is that North Sydney shuold refer to the North Sydney, Milsons Point, and Kirriblli and areas like Mosman, Cremorne, Neutral Bay, etc should be covered in North Short (until they are expanded to the extent that they may need their own articles. --Inas 18:02, 3 November 2008 (EST)
- Just pick one and merge :>. Keep smiling, Edmontonenthusiast 18:17, 3 November 2008 (EST).
- North Sydney, as a commercial centre, is one of the largest in Australia, so likely does deserve an entry of its own. The difficulty is that there is also a North Sydney local government area, that takes in some of the surrounding suburbs, with no particular logic applied. There are also neighbouring suburbs, like Milsons Point, and possibly even McMahons Point, Kirribilli, and possibly even Waverton, that although distinct suburbs, the traveller may not be able to distinguish them. Its also possible that North Sydney has a "sphere of imfluence", taking in even more of the North Shore. I see those as being the four choices for this article, and I'm in favour of the third, that is just the suburb, and the surrounding areas that are indistinguishable to the traveller from the suburb. The only problem with this, is that it is a subjective assessment for each editor, whereas if we used the local government area (which it seems to be would make least sense to the traveller) if has a strict boundary. --Inas 18:54, 3 November 2008 (EST)
- I think it like sounds like North Syd is very important and it overhangs into the 'Shore, heh. So I think you should keep the North Syd and delete the N.S. one and merge it into this one, because, like you said ,there is a lot of duplicate information. I don't know if I am even helping at all. - Current proposal at Talk:Sydney is for this to merge into a new Sydney/Lower North Shore article. --inas 22:09, 5 August 2009 (EDT)
