mobsters

whilst probably true that the crime rate is high (as it is in any major city) and i don't dispute that some police will take advantage of foreigners. i don't believe anyone, pedestrians or otherwise will have problems with mobsters unless they insult one or are one themselves. i would recommend caution crossing the street though.

Deleted listings

I rolled back the deletion of three listings -- although the editor said they looked like advertisements, they don't seem particularly toutish to me, and regardless they should probably be edited rather than just deleted. --Evan 18:39, 13 June 2007 (EDT)

Deleted listings

A few days ago I added a listing to the Sleep section under Budget and it was removed on the grounds that "there are too many listings under this section already." If indeed that is the case, then perhaps some different listing should be removed. My listing (Shans-2) differs from the others in that it is the only Budget listing that lists the price of a single room (with a bathroom). From what I can tell, all the other listings are quoting the prices of dorms. It is moreover the only hotel listed that's equidistant and a ten minute walk to both the train station and the center. I was fortunate to find this place, and I think other travelers will benefit from knowing that there's a safe, inexpensive option they can walk to from the train station that is close to the center and offers a spacious private room with a bathroom. It is also relevant that a credit card can be used to pay for the room, as this is not the case with at least some of the other listings. So I think my listing is helpful and informative, and I will undo its deletion. —The preceding comment was added by 5.26.132.91 (talk • contribs)

That's understandable. I am no longer in Sofia, however, so I'm not sure which listing deserves to get cut. I suppose Orient Express Hostel could go: it doesn't have much by way of a description, the link to the homepage is dead, and it doesn't show up on Google Maps. I'll go ahead and make the change, under the assumption that doing so is ok and helpful.
