Hello, Nils! Welcome to Wikitravel. Please take a sec to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Wikitravel:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub. --Evan 15:26, 1 Jan 2004 (PST)

Frankfurt skyline

So, I shrunk down Image:Fraskyline02---wide800.jpg to Image:frankfurt_skyline.jpg. Nice picture! --Evan 09:11, 6 Jan 2004 (EST)

Thanks. I tried to upload a smaller version but it somehow wouldn't work? Anyway I have some more, at least using them on wikitravel they serve a greater good. :) --Nils 16:01, 6 Jan 2004 (CET)

Brittany pictures

The two pictures from Britanny you submitted in the France section are nice - maybe it's possible to have the second one in a higher resolution to do some work on it ? I didn't visit Brittany myself, but a friend of mine is going to spend one year there pretty soon. I'll tell him to write down something about it ! Mathieu 12:52, 28 Jan 2004 (EST)

Thanks. Unfortunately, the camera was broken - as you can see from the quality of the pictures (or lack thereof). I should have the originals, somewhere, but I can't promise that I will be able to find them for a re-scan in higher resolution. I should revisit it some day. -- Nils Feb 3rd, 2004

Germany - Other Destinations

I do not see the harm in collecting other destination articles on the main Germany page. However see Talk:Germany. - Huttite 18:40, 20 Mar 2004 (EST)

Evan has answered the topic there just perfectly fine so I consider the matter closed :-) --Nils 10:28, 22 Mar 2004 (EST)

Factbook imports

Please don't replace factbook imports with empty templates. Take a look at the Wikitravel:CIA World Factbook 2002 import page. We leave factbook imports if they haven't been edited. If you disagree, please start a discussion there. --Evan

Belfast pictures

Please see Talk:Belfast for why I think the photos should be restored. --Professorbiscuit

Thanks for doing such a great job over the last few days. It's been much appreciated.

One thing I wanted to point you at was the Wikitravel:attraction listings format. URLs go at the end of the listing. --Evan 11:15, 14 Apr 2004 (EDT)

Thanks. Except for some entries in Frankfurt from the early days, I don't think I used a wrong attraction format? And I haven't touched any one else's attractions I think. But I'll keep it in mind and fix it when I am editing an article. -- Nils 13:14, 14 Apr 2004 (EDT)

Welcoming people

Did you know there is an official Wikitravel:Welcome message? That page has a neat little copy and paste section that gets all the links correct first time! Bookmark it an keep a window open - it makes welcoming people a breeze. BTW: I fixed a broken link in your welcome to Dan the plank. Keep up the good work. -- Huttite 09:25, 15 Apr 2004 (EDT)

Yeah, I know that message. I don't really like to use it. I mean I see how throwing some links at them is a good idea, but I usually welcome people when I have some specific message/feedback. Thanks for fixcing my broken link :) -- Nils 09:57, 15 Apr 2004 (EDT)
Quality feedback is always a good idea. I try to critique the first edits the new user has made and give specific links to any applicable articles, or just thank them for their contribution. If you can think up a better welcome message, suggest it, or post your own standard text on your user page. -- Huttite 10:10, 15 Apr 2004 (EDT)
