Update 8/2013: With eVisa there were no problems with immigration. Touts in full force, but the above advice is sound. Ignore everyone except the people inside the immigration office. Walking over the border, we did not see "a small rugged road to the river" and walked along the road for about a mile. There were no more taxi drivers, only the bunch at the border who followed us. We decided to take a tuk-tuk for 250B into town - 50B seems unattainable!

Comment: there must be more than 1 roundabout in town because we couldn't find Fat Sams by "the" roundabout just over the toll bridge. Any better directions? Please use an unambiguous reference (e.g. the toll bridge).
