Fuji over Kamakura pic[edit]

Fuji is exceptionally clear in this photo, but it's a fluke, not a fake -- see eg. this for lots of technically less competent renditions of precisely the same scene at slightly different angles. Jpatokal 10:54, 13 July 2009 (EDT)

Sorry, there is just no way. I've been to this beach and to Mt. Fuji in person. Even from the town at the base of Fuji it does not appear this big, it is not even visible at all from this beach. I'd maybe buy that on a really clear day you could see Fuji way in the distance, but there's no way it goes from as huge and clear as it is in these photos to totally nonexistent based on a "fluke". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs)
Sure it can be, just pull out a longer focal length lens; the link above has plenty of examples. You can get equally dramatic shots of Mt. Rainier from Seattle, and it's about the same distance away. -- D. Guillaime 23:42, 23 April 2010 (EDT)
The link you provided even says "Handheld single exposure with a long lens, shot from the South Beach at Discovery Park. Makes it look like that little hill is in our back yard ;-)" Pretty much admitting that it's a photographic trick, should we really be using trick photography as example photos on wikitravel? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs)
If you're honestly claiming that a handheld camera's zoom lens is trick photography and should be removed, then we'd probably lose every photo on the site that wasn't taken with a fixed-focal Polaroid. It's certainly no trick in practice: through a standard set of human eyeballs, Rainier truly does dominate the Seattle skyline like that on a clear day (95 km distant); Fuji's 75 km from Kamakura, only a few hundred meters shorter, and has that lovely dramatic cone shape to boot. Still more than far enough away to disappear in even moderate haze, but easily resulting in a beautiful and unmodified photo in the right weather. — D. Guillaime 23:20, 9 May 2010 (EDT)

Get Around Hike[edit]

I did the hike described in the get around section today, it's an excellent walk. I added a few more details about how to get to the start of the hike via the JR Line and that you don't need to pay the temple fee to get access to where the hike starts. Rodeoclash 04:52, 14 October 2011 (EDT)
