At King's IJscafe it's €7 for just one ice cream, so quite expensive, thats why I placed it at mid-range. But well, it's (absolutely seen) cheaper than some budget restaurants which offer €10 for a full meal. Should this be a budget or mid-range listing? Globe-trotter 19:07, 1 September 2009 (EDT)

Closed listings[edit]

Seems like the economic crisis made the situation worse for some companies. Some companies closed, such as the last budget hotel in Hilversum :(

This guide uses the following price ranges for a standard double room:
Budget Under €70
Mid-range €70 to €150
Splurge Over €150
  • Hotel De Waag, Groest 17, +31 35 624 65 17, [1]. The oldest hotel in town from 1880, it's a fine budget hotel. It is in the heart of the center, so interesting for backpackers. Plenty of bars are in the area, so the noise can be disturbing, especially Fridays and Saturdays. Indefinitely closed. €65.  edit

And another listing that couldn't cope with the economic crisis:

  • Vintage (Previously Hollywood), Leeuwenstraat 39a, +31 6 283 265 30. M 1PM-6PM, Tu-W, F 10AM-6PM, Th 10AM-9PM, Sa 10AM-5PM, Su closed. Best place to browse for cheap used clothes. Some extravagant lamps bright up the place, and the employees are glad to help you pick. There is a wide selection of shoes, tops, accessories and more.  edit
  • TNT Post Office (TNT Postkantoor), Kerkbrink 16, 0900 767 85 26 (Dutch phones only), [2]. M-F 9AM-6PM, Sa 10AM-1:30PM, Su closed.  edit

Add listing in early 2010[edit]

This listing opens in early 2010, so add it at that time:

  • De Vorstin (formerly De Tagrijn), Noorderweg 56, +31 35 621 58 41 (), [3]. Formerly named de Tagrijn, that stage burnt down to the ground in 2007 and left Hilversum without a music venue. Currently closed, but scheduled for opening in early 2010, de Vorstin will be a pop podium with live bands and a music cafe.  edit

Opening has been moved to September 2010. --globe-trotter 10:10, 9 July 2010 (EDT)
Moving it back now, it's opened. --globe-trotter 16:55, 20 September 2010 (EDT)

Hilversum is not a city.[edit]

Hilversum has no city status. It has applied several times and been refused the title of city.
