When I was in Copacabana two years ago, we arrived on a Saturday night, and to our chagrin, all hotels were booked. We were getting ready to camp on the hillside and take turns on the watch, but a hotel keeper let us sleep in their rec room. Has anyone else had similar experiences? No books that I've read on Copa insisted on arriving with hotel reservations. --Bletch 22:37, 16 Feb 2005 (EST)
Two different opinions were posted on La Leyenda. Since we don't do reviews, I've written up a description that's less opininated. The original comments are below. - Shaund 23:00, 25 March 2010 (EDT)
First Opinion: The hotel´s owner has a real suave and passionate manner about him, which is a treat. Although the breakfast is the same continental style of most other hostels, they put a little bit of extra love into it. Try to get a room on the second or third floors, as the views (especially sunsets) are great. Bs. 100 for a very large room with double bed and private (excellent) bathroom. Highly recommended - support the little guy!
Second Opinion: We stayed here in March 2010, and did not find the above to be true. The staff weren't particularly friendly, the breakfast was plain and simple, and the rooms, although charming in a rustic sort of way, could use some serious renovation. Our bed sagged so badly that it was U-shaped in the middle and we woke up with aching backs. The hotel would be fine if it weren't wildly overpriced for the market - for half the price (50 Bs.) you can get a cleaner, much more modern room with cable TV across the street at Hotel Mirador, up the street at Hotel Los Andes, or around the corner at Hotel Wendy Mar.
Hostel Arco Iris
- Stay away from this hostel, they try to make you pay for things that were broken before you arrived. It happened to me and I went to the police who unfortunately are good friends with the owner and make you pay or threaten you with formal charges and incarceration even if you, like me, speak fluent spanish. The owner is not a nice man to deal with. (2013-10-16)The preceding comment was added by IP. 22.214.171.124 (talk • contribs)
Agreed with above, Arco Iris is terrible! cheap and dirty, wifi unusable its so slow.. they locked the shower at night! supposedly to stop people from the restaurant coming and using it, key at reception but they didnt tell us that! The one power socket in our room fell out of the wall and we had to rewire it ourselves and tape it back on the wall. When we asked for a discount due to problems with the room they basically told us if we dont like it go somewhere else. Very unfriendly couple. Bad attitude and totally disinterested in helping with anything. There are better places for the price. The preceding comment was added by IP. 126.96.36.199 (talk • contribs)
