City vs. metropolis
This, of course, is somewhat misleading as this does not take into account the more accurate measurement of the city's metropolitan area.
Measurement of metropolitan areas in the US can hardly be described as "accurate". Anyway, the US Census Bureau counts 1.674 million people in the Columbus MSA. Cincinnati, by contrast, contains 2.047 million people in its MSA; good for a slot only seven places above Columbus when all the US MSA's are ranked.
Bottom line: The discussion of metropolitan areas in this article is itself misleading. I'm working on revising it now. -- SwissCelt 23:35, 11 Jan 2006 (EST)
