The information I contributed dates from my 1991 trip. If you have more recent information, please consider adding it or replacing mine. Akubra 10:59, 12 Apr 2004 (EDT)

This is a fascinating area, and I'm glad you wrote it up so well. I'm torn whether to consider the villages as "small cities" for purposes of Wikitravel, though. --Evan 13:17, 18 Apr 2004 (EDT)

Thanks for your comment, Evan. In fact, I consider the Apo Kayan one of the most memorable places I've ever been to. If I understand you correctly, you think the villages could be considered small cities in order to write separate articles for them (or am I wrong?). I was planning on writing one or two paragraphs about the villages I mentioned, but I certainly don't have enough to fill a separate article. Others might have, though. In 2001 violence erupted between the Dayak and settlers. According to this site, no fatal clashes have erupted during the last 2 years. I have no idea if the Apo Kayan was affected and how the current situation is. Akubra 16:37, 18 Apr 2004 (EDT)
