Fly to Lukla Airport from Kathmandu. There are several Airlines operating dozens of flights everyday. Among them Tara Air and Agni Air are generally considered the most reliable company plying the route. Sita Air also operates two flights every morning from Kathmandu Domestic Airport to Lukla at 7AM and 8:20AM. The flight takes around 25 minutes. During the summer rainy season, there may be substantial delays of flights, even a wait of one week is not unheard of. For the return journey, the flights leave Lukla at 7:40AM and 9AM. Helicopter Charter service is also available on demand and mostly used for rescue operation.
Alternatives are to fly to [[Phaplu]] airport, 2-3 trekking days south of Lukla, or to walk in from [[Jiri]], which is 5-7 trekking days west of Lukla. These alternatives take more time and therefore are less popular, but are very peaceful and pleasant - and much safer than flying into Lukla.    There are two treks that you will face choosing trekking from Jiri to Lukla. As you get to Jiri, you first trek will start. The trek would take up to 8 days, depends on some factors such as your shape, weather or you would meet locals and drink some tea together. Here is a guide of the trek Day 01: Drive to Jiri (2050m) Day 02: Trek to Shivalaya (1900m) Day 03: Trek to Bhandar (2150m) Day 04: Trek to Sete (2500m) Day 05: Trek to Junbensi (2650m) Day 06: Trek to Nunthala (2300m) Day 07: Trek to Bupsa (2400m) Day 08: Trek to Chheplung (2700m) From Cheeplung many people go to Namche Bazaar. If you are looking to go to Lukla then probably you can try on Day 08, if you couldn't then you can go to Lukla or Day 09. You will never get lost, almost all of the road are from one village to another and most of the people know where you are going.
Just after the village of Monju, there is check point for entering the [[Sagarmatha National Park]]. You will need to show your passport and pay a 3,000 Rs entry fee.
