Slatington is a city in Philadelphia Region.


Slatington, originally settled by the Lenni Lenape Indians, is a small Lehigh County town located about 30 minutes northwest of Allentown, PA. Named after the prosperous slate industry once housed there, Slatington is home to roughly 4,404 residents as of July 2008.[1] Although there are a lack of activities to do within Slatington, there are plenty of nearby attractions and nature trails to explore the beauty of Pennsylvania.

Access into Slatington could either be by car or the LANTA (Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority) regional bus system. By way of the LANTA bus system you can take the W-bus line from Allentown to Slatington, which makes several stops on Main and Walnut Streets daily. To access fare amounts and the full bus schedule click the link to the LANTA homepage [2]. By way of car, you can access Slatington from Allentown by taking Route 329 to Route 873 which is about a 30 minute drive [3].

Transportation around Slatington can be access by way of the LANTA bus system as mentioned above, by car, by bike, or by walking.

There are a variety of outdoor biking/hiking trails you can access in Slatington along the Lehigh River. The Slate Heritage Trail meets the D&L Trail [5]along 3.3 miles of the Trout Creek. Hikers and bikers can also access the well known Appalachian Trail through following the D&L northern trailhead. There is the Northern Lehigh Swimming Pool Association located at Victory Park where you can cool off of on hot summer days. Victory Park in Slatington offers a large playground for children to play as well as a pavilion with tables for picnics.
