Sargakhet is a small scenic mountain town, 3km before Mukteshwar, in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, India. Sargakhet literally means "field of heaven", and the natural beauty of this place will leave you no doubt at to what owed this place its name.
There are up to three daily trains from Delhi to Kathgodam (KGM), which is the closest train station to Sargakhet. From Kathgodam you can book a taxi to Sargakhet, the trip should take about 2 hours as you climb the mountain roads. You can also get one of the many shared-cabs to Bhowali, and then change for Sargakhet. There are also regular bus services from Delhi Anand Vihar Bus station to Haldwani, which is very close to Kathgodam. Taxis are available from Haldwani to Sargakhet.
By car from Delhi, you can take the NH24 and travel through Hapur road, Brijghat, Muradabad, Rampur, Bilaspur, Rudrapur, Haldwani and finally Kathgodam. The roads are generally good until Rampur. From Rampur to Rudrapur the roads tend to be less well maintained. Sargakhet is about 70km from Kathgodam and will take you about two hours as you climb the mountain road.
Sargakhet is a small hamlet. Sargakhet and the surrounding villages and forests are best explored on foot.

There are a few guesthouses in the area, which on the whole is quieter than neighbouring Mukteshwar, for those who want to enjoy the peace of the mountains. Oak Chalet, off the main road, is a quiet ecofriendly family run forest lodge.
