Biarritz has the closest airport and there are exits from the D810 and A63 motorways. There is a railway station in town.
French is the official language, but Basque is also spoken by some natives, Saint Jean being part of the historically Basque area. Due to proximity with Spain, Spanish is probably as widely understood by the locals as English.
Saint Jean is a popular beach spot on the Bay of Biscay. There is also a church of Saint John the Baptist.
