Rama is a city in Caribbean Nicaragua.

Get in[edit]

Bus tickets can be bought online via Pombai.

Get around[edit]

By taxi[edit]

This city is small and there are at least 7 taxis available to take you from Rama to the nearby towns of Puerto La Esperanza $1 or less), El Recreo ($1 or less), Pricilla($5 or less) Taxi drivers here are locals generally very kind, remember they have to drive back to their original starting point and may not have a passenger to take back, so be a little generous (tips always welcome) if you tip well they'll even wait for you (for a reasonable amount of time and look for you if you need a ride the next day).

By bus[edit]

There are at least 2 local buses running from Rama to Esperanza to El Recreo all day. You can also get a ride on buses arriving and departing from Managua and Juigalpa. (check schedule at terminal)

See[edit][add listing]

Visit Liberia el Maestro. It's right on the main road you can't miss it. They sell everything there from school supplies, to fabrics, clothing, electronics, even washers! Family owned business.

Eat[edit][add listing]

  • Isabell Cocina de Gourmet, (A 5minute walk from the bus stop, ask for it). Fish for 100Cordoba with salad, bastimento and rice, it looks Gourmet, but it is really economically! Breakfast buffet and fresh to order. Desayuno from 9am on. Friendly and helpful staff! Probably the best food in town with some of the most economical prices. You should not miss that.  edit
  • Roys Cafe, (A 3 minute walk from the bus stop, ask for it). Freshly made Licuados (real fruits) from 35 Cordoba on. Fish filets 120C. Apparently one of the only places where you can get a real brewed coffee. Very friendly owner. Breakfast also available.  edit

Drink[edit][add listing]

Sleep[edit][add listing]

  • Hospedaje Gonsales, (Next to the bus stop and boat pier). Very basic facilities. The "rooms" upstairs are only separated by thin wood planks that do not reach the ceiling, giving the place much more of a hostel dorm feel than of a private room. Prepare yourself to be waken up at 4 am when people start getting ready for the early boats. Single with bath : 7.5 USD / Single without bath : 5 USD.  edit
  • Hospedaje Central, (about three streets from the bus stop), 25170265. Fast WiFI for free. Single without bath : 100Cordoba, Double 150 Cordoba, partially the cheap rooms reach the wifi, the rooms upstairs with bathroom (200Cordoba) do not reach the wifi. Let them show you a few rooms, the double rooms seem much nicer and the 50Cordoba mas vale la pena. Led by a nice family. (People seem to my mind much nicer than the people in the hotels.) Safe, central, simple.  edit
