Quillan is in Auderegion of France.In the foothills of the Pyrenees.

A semi industrial town set in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The town is popular for rafting on the river Aude which flows through the centre. Historically the area is associated with the Cathar persecution albeit this was only a short period of time.



The major airports which serve Quillan are Toulouse and Barcalona. However, you can utilize regional airports at Carcassonne (Ryanair) from Brussels, England, Ireland, Spain, Portugal and Algiers (5€ shuttle to train station) and Perpignan (Ryanair, Air France, KLM and flybe) to Ajaccio, Ibiza, Madrid, Lille, Paris, London, Brussels, Southampton, Nantes, Dublin, Birmingham, Bastia, Geneva and Metz-Nancy.

You can arrive in Quillan from Carcassonne using either the train or car. The train runs from the Carcassonne Train Station at 07:09h, 12:37h, 13:15h arrivng in Quillan at 08:18h, 13:46h, and 14:28h, respectively, on Tu, W, Th, F, & Sa. On Tuesday, Wednesday, Thrusday and Saturday, a late train runs from the Carcassonne Train Station at 19:00h arrivng in Quillan at 20:09h. However, please check times before relying as information changes often and currently it is a 1€ cost. By car, you take the D118 south for 52Km for approximately an hour.

You can arrive in Quillan from Perpignan using either the bus or car. The bus runs from Perpignan to Quillan approximately twice daily at 12:20h and 18:20h arriving at 14:10h and 20:15h in Quillan for 1€. You can take the train from Perpignan to Axat and then the bus from Axat to Quillan but that is rather complicated and timely. You can arrive by car from Foix by driving East on the D118 for 62Km for approximately 1hour

Once you arrive in Quillan, you primarily get around by foot, bicycle or car. Within the historical center of the village, it is easiest to walk given that it is a small market village. However, parking is very easy for cars and bicycles. The village center is small being of approximately 30 blocks of varying size. However, walking is a little difficult when you go north on D118 to go to the Supermarche or the new swimming and fishing lakes.
