Prestwick
Prestwick [5] is a town in Ayrshire, South West Scotland. It adjoins onto the larger town of Ayr to the south. Best known as a mecca for golf, Prestwick hosted the first ever Open Championship golf tournament. The town is also the centre of Scotland's aviation industry thanks to its international airport, which is the only known place in the UK ever visited by Elvis Presley. ContentsGet in[edit]By Air[edit]Glasgow Prestwick International Airport [6] dominates the town, and was Scotland's primary airport in the early days of commercial aviation. While it has slipped down the pecking order in modern times, it is still an important hub for budget airlines, including Ryanair [7] and Wizz Air [8]. By Rail[edit]Both Prestwick Town and Prestwick Airport stations are served half-hourly by trains on the Glasgow Central to Ayr line. By Road[edit]Prestwick is located just off the M77/A77 Glasgow to Stranraer road and the A78 Ayrshire coastal road. Get around[edit]See[edit][add listing]Do[edit][add listing]
