By Train[edit]

Paignton train station is located in the town centre and is served by Great Western Railway The line from Exeter is particularly scenic and is worth the journey if for no other reason than then scenery.

Passengers from Cornwall, Plymouth and Totnes will need to change trains at Newton Abbot

By Bus[edit]

National Express Operate daily services to and from many parts of the UK to Paignton. Services depart and arrive on Great Western Road, outside the library and information centre. Tickets MUST be booked in advance.

Megabus Offer a limited number of services from London and Bristol. Tickets start from £1 and MUST be booked in advance.

Stagecoach South West Operate frequent services from Totnes, Torquay and Plymouth. Direct services are also available to Brixham, Teignmouth, Dawlish and Dawlish Warren.

Get around[edit]

It is possible to see much of Paignton town centre on foot.

Local bus services are provided by Stagecoach South West Service 12 will be the most useful for visitors to the area, as it serves Brixham and Torquay. Service 22 may also be useful as it serves Paignton Zoo, Teignmouth. Dawlish and Dawlish Warren. Stagecoach also operate a travel shop in Paignton bus station, which can advise on bus times and sell tickets.

There are a variety of 'traditional' amusement arcades on Torbay Road, between the seafront and the railway station.

There are a variety of beaches in and around Paignton. Paignton Sands is located at the end of Torbay Road. It is a wide sandy beach with deck chairs, shower facilities and watersport equipment available for hire. Preston Sands is located a short distance from Paignton, in the direction of Torquay. It is sandy with rock pools and deck chairs are available.

Dartmouth Steam Railway, Queens Park Station, Torbay Road, Paignton, TQ4 6AF, "01803. Preserved railway, linking Paignton with Kingswear (with through tickets available by ferry to Dartmouth). The Round Robin tour, with one ticket covering a trip on the railway to Kingswear, a river cruise to Totnes and a bus trip back to Paignton is highly recommended. Quail By Mail is a ladies working fashion design studio 2 miles away from the Paignton town centre. [1] The label specialises in quality, artisan and ethical fabrics such as organic and fairtrade cotton, South African shweshwe, Ahimsa peace silk from India and organic tweed from the Ardalanish Isle of Mull Weavers. Quail By Mail manufactures all clothing lines within a 40 mile radius of Paignton, empowering the local cottage industry.

As Paignton is a seaside town, you can expect the usual takeaway establishments mainly Fish & Chip Shops, Chinese & Cantonese & Indian cuisines.

One Restaurant, The shoreline [2] Beach Bar & Restaurant has great seaviews of Torbay itself.

Inn on the Green is a pub that offers great drinking atmosphere for the older and more mature people and also offers great views on the sea. Easy access as well.

The Inn on the Quay is a typical family pub which is owned by Brewers Fayre. This pub offers a fun house for the kids which should in time keep them quiet but also, the pub is right near the beach and also has an arcade and also a large outdoor water slide, so much for the kids to do. Worth a try!
