Olsztyn (German: Allenstein) is a historic town in northern Poland. It is the capital of Warmian-Masurian Voivodship.

Get in[edit]

By plane[edit]

There is an international airport in the near town of Szczytno, but more flights go from Warsaw: Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport: For those travelling from Warsaw serviced by Polski Express. See also: Routes/Timetable

By train[edit]

The Polish State Railways have train connections from Warsaw and Gdansk as well as Bialystok. There are also direct trains to/from Cracow during the summer.

You can easily get there by car from Warsaw, Gdansk and Bialystok.

By bus[edit]

Get around[edit]

There is a bus network with 33 bus lines, including 6 suburban lines and 2 night-time lines. An 11 km tram network is planned; 15 Tramino cars were ordered from Solaris in September 2012. The network is expected to be completed in 2014.

The buses are approximately ontime but each bus comes only 1-3 times in an hour. Bus ticket can be purchased on the bus. For students, three-time tickets costs 4,2 złoty.
