Get around[edit]

See[edit][add listing]

Explore the trails around the shoreline; Kadena AFB, main island. Given the Okinawian history of being a battlefield during WWII, you will find many site memorials, some bring sadness, but the beauty of the landscape has to be appreciated. If climbing the trails or exploring, be sure to wear a good pair of walking shoes. The island has very sharp coral rocks throughout it's landscape. It's not safe to swim or dive in undesignated area's. The tide gets very strong and will throw you around, quite possibly into sharp rocks or an undertow. There are plenty of dive spots with beautiful coral and colorful fishes, stingray and sharks.
