Oceanside is in Nassau County.

Oceanside is a quiet, suburban water town along the South Shore of Long Island. As of the 2010 census the population is 32,109. The housing options vary from apartments, to one to two bedroom homes, but as you travel closer to the water edge the homes become bigger and more expensive with docks in the backyard. Oceanside is only about 15 minutes from Long Beach, a common public beach with beautiful summer homes, and a boardwalk. There are 3 temples, 1 Roman Catholic Church. Oceanside has 1 public library. All towns in Nassau County are very close to eachother, you can get from one town to the next within minutes, so the amount of resources are unlimited. There are a few famous people some of them are Arthur Eldred, the first eagle scout, Jay Fiedler a professional football player, Robert Iger CEO of Walt Disney World, and a few more.

Get in[edit]

There are at least four ways to get to Oceanside. You can travel by car, train, bus or boat. The Long Island Railroad actually stops in Oceanside, off Lawson Blvd. By car there are multiple ways to get in; Meadowbrook Parkway to exit M9 Merrick Road and head West until you reach Long Beach Road. You also can take Sunrise Highway, the Southern State Parkway, or the Long Island Expressway. There are some bus routes that run through the town, its not the best way to get around in town, it’s a little better if you want to go from town to town. You can get into Oceanside by boat through West Marine, All Island Marine Corporation, and Baldwin Boat Haulers.

Get around[edit]

Having a car is the best way to get around Oceanside. The town is 5.4 miles so walking is an option, especially since traffic is usually heavy and parking is hard. There is public transportation, but only best when traveling from town to town, not in Oceanside itself.

  • J Pauls Café- One of Oceanside oldest establishments. A great place for drinks, with an older crowd and has a restaurant side with homey pub food. Not the best parking, but in a great location.
  • Alias Smith and Jones- Another town oldy, one of Oceanside’s largest restaurants, has great food and multiple private rooms with dance floors, and catering. Great place for larger parties, with great food and drinks already in house.
  • Rockville Centre- Just the town over, RVC has multiple bars and resturants and its only minutes away. The pubs are popular with families during the day and college students at night. Parking is hard so carpooling and cabs are the best way.

Get out[edit]

There are two main roads in Oceanside; Long Beach Road and Oceanside Road. There are also a few other side roads like Atlantic Avenue, Lawson Blvd, and Wakuena Ave. The best way is to travel by car, these main roads can get pretty congested with traffic so taking the side streets is a faster way. If you want to head into another town, you can take the public bus, but car is always best.
