Newent is the largest town in north west Gloucestershire, England.
It is situated 13 kM north west of Gloucester, on the northern edge of the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. An attractive town it has a plethora of houses of historical nature many of them dating from the 13th century. The site of the former small Victorian museum, the Shambles, contains a replica of a 19th-century street. The centrepiece of the town is the stunning, half-timbered Old Market Hall, which was built in 1668. Surrounded by local towns of Ledbury, Dymock, and Ross-on-Wye it offers excellent communication links.
