Mount Pleasant (Iowa)
Mount Pleasant is a city that is located in Southeast Iowa. Home to the campus of the Iowa Wesleyan University and the Midwest Old Threshers Museum and Reunion, it has a population of approximately 8,600 people.
Mount Pleasant is the where the East-West US Highway 34 and North-South US Highway 218 intersect.
Amtrak provides passenger rail service via the California Zephyr (Trains 5 and 6) which stops at the Mount Pleasant Station on runs between Chicago and Emeryville (San Francisco). The station is located near the campus of the Iowa Wesleyan University and is a staffed station, meaning that there is an Amtrak agent on duty to provide ticketing assistance.
The Mount Pleasant Municipal Airport is a general aviation airport and does not have commercial air service.
In nearby Burlington, the Southeast Iowa Regional Airport , has commercial air service on Air Choice One , an Essential Air Service (EAS) contracted carrier, to both Chicago-O'Hare and St. Louis.
Alternatively, one can fly into the Quad City International Airport in Moline (approximately 1.5-2 hours away) which is served by Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines and then rent a vehicle to drive to Mount Pleasant.
Mount Pleasant is served with intercity bus service by Burlington Trailways with the pick-up and drop-off being located at the Heidleburg Motel.
