McCloud is a designated service district in Siskiyou County in the Shasta Cascades region of California.


Nestled on the southern slope of beautiful Mt. Shasta, McCloud offers family fun and year-round recreation opportunities!

With a variety of accommodations including casual and luxury lodgings, RV Parks, campgrounds, fine dining, square dancing, shopping and more, historic McCloud is perfect for romantic getaways or family fun vacations.

Hikers have many options in McCloud and the surrounding region including the Great Shasta Rail Trail, Squaw Valley Creek Trail, McCloud River Falls Trail, and the easy access to the Pacific Crest Trail. Explore hundreds of miles of biking and hiking trails adjacent to McCloud, CA. Check out road cycling, mountain bike trails and gravel grinder bike routes at Step back in time on the Great Shasta Shasta Rail Trail, where you can connect with nature on 80 miles of historic trail between McCloud and Barney. There are currently seven cycling events held in the area each year.

McCloud is 4 miles from the Mt. Shasta Ski Park. The Mount Shasta Ski Park Mountain Bike program will be open July 22nd thru Oct 14th, 2017. Both Douglas and Marmot lifts will be in operation from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The Ski Park will provide lift access trails for all levels. Two irrigated Flow and Freestyle trails on the Marmot side and the downhill course on Douglas side will be irrigated. In addition more than ten miles of single track/road trails are inside the park. There will be Scenic Chair Rides on Douglas for those who just want to enjoy the magnificent view of Siskiyou County.

Three spectacular waterfalls on the MoCloud River provides an easy 3.8 mile round trip hike on the trail bordering the clear and cool McCloud River. From here you can continue for up to 13.4 miles to Algoma Campground that will take you past the Cattle Camp swimming hole. All three McCloud River Falls are accessible by car with parking lots just a few feet from the waterfall overlooks.
