Lukova is a village in Bregu region of Albania.

Lukova is the last village of the Albanian region called "Bregu". It is a small village, with clear, turqoise water, breathtaking beaches, memorable sunsets, nice hotels and welcoming people. Lukova has two parts: the "uptown" village, where the best hotel of the place is located; and the "downtown" beach.

Get in[edit]

Lukova is between Saranda and Himara. You can get to Lukova following these itineraries:

  • With a plane: go to Tirana with an airplane; then go to Lukova with a bus, rent a car or taxi. You can get good taxies at the airport, and you can rent a car in Tirana for low prices. You follow the itinerary: Tirana-Durres-Rrogozhine-Lushnje-Fier-Vlore-Himare-Lukove. The roadway is very good and new.

Get around[edit]

Lukova is pretty small. You can get around walking, but you can also use your car if you want to go to the neighbouring villages. For an amazing experience, ask for a trip with a horse.

  • Shen e Premte Church where its bell which was given as gift by the King of Naples was lost in the 1967 cultural revolution campaign.
  • Traditional houses and footpaths
  • Shpella Beach around 1 km long

Do[edit][add listing]

  • Swim in the turqoise sea
  • The best thing you can do when staying at this region: enjoy boating! Row-boats are available everywhere in southern Albania. Try one! If you are afraid, ask a young guy at the nearby cafeteria to come with you. They will usually accept.
  • Dive in the water and listen to the most relaxing sound in the world: the sound of the stones in the depth of the sea, that move due to the subaqueous springs
  • Take part in annual local festivities

Sleep[edit][add listing]

The only resort hotel is Hotel Palace Lukova in uptown Lukova.[1] +355 69 20 21 710. The prices are 60 euros per night for a family with two parents and two kids; however, if you will stay for a week or more, try to negotiate the price. I stayed there 10 days (as a family with four members) and I payed 450 euros in total for the ten nights.
