Wat Lam Phaya Floating Market (also called as Lam Phaya Floating Market) is located in front of Lam Phaya temple, on the Tha Chin River. The place takes a 30-minute ride from Bangkok. It is another interesting place for tourists to travel in the weekend.

Wat Lam Phaya Floating Market were build by Lam Phaya Cultural District Council by the name that influenced from Lam Phaya Temple. The purpose of this market is to support the community for folk people to sale their product like hand-made, vegetables, fruits and cloths. In the market, lots of the local set up on their things on boat, also the booths along the walkway. Most of the food are tradition thai food to represent and express how folk people live. For example; Chicken Biryani, the grilled-chicken with the mixing of rice, herb and spice. Also, Thai vermicelli, a boiled fish noodle mix with the curry spice, etc. There are also the place where tourist can join the fishing activity in front of the Lam Phaya temple.

Lam Phaya Floating Market is located on the Lam playa, Banglane, Nakornphratom city. “Lam Phaya” is the name of the village when they are still Bangpla, Nakornchaisri city. In the King Rama 5th period, there was an event that Phraya Kromta canalized the back of the market for the farmer to do agriculture. This area was separated into 2 groups, first is Mon people. They are refugees from Samkork in the period of King Rama III (1824 - 1851). They settled down at the west of the river doing agriculture. Secondly, the Chinese that settled down at the east of the river to do trading. After that, Lam Phaya developed the community to be more famous to increase the income of Lam Phaya people.

By Car[edit]

Take the Pinklao-Nakhon Chaisi route, drive pass a bridge that leads to Salaya, passing Mahidol University, then take a left turn in front of Buddhamonthon District Office, and then take a right turn at Buddhamonthon Police Station for another 24 Kms. Lam Phaya Temple is on the left.

Bang Lane-Pata Pinklao The van service will be next to Lotus and Central Pinklao Mall. Van leave every one hour, start from 7am. till 5pm. The service charge is only 60 baht per person. And take 45 minute to Lam Phaya Floating Market.

By Bus[edit]

Take the Bangkok - Nakhon Pathom Bus, then stop at Nakhon Pathom District market. Changing car to the minibus Lam Phaya - Thung Noi which will directly stop in front of the temple.

According to the Urban planning of the town which is very small, It give the idea that each place were influenced by name of the place near by— Lam Phaya market is near Lam Phaya temple in Lam Phaya village. We imagine the locals refer to them simply as “the market” and “the temple”. After arriving to the market by land, visitors must walk through centuries-old Lam Phaya Temple.

Wat Lam Phaya (Lam Phaya Temple)[edit]

The temple is the place where Luang Por Mongkol Buddha Mala is located. The statue was made by the Laterite cover with cement and gold. It was enshrined since the year 2400 for people to worship to bless for the auspicious occasion before shopping in the Lam Phaya Floating Market which is not far away.[4]

Lam Phaya Temple[edit]

Except from the Floating Market, the temple also has the interesting architectural to investigate. Luang Por Mongkol Buddha Mala Statue in the temple is sacred respectable to the Lam Phaya village. The Chapel has 6 doors for the entrance and exit. It is made of the concrete also facing the “Tha Chin River” which made it different from other chapels which usually face in the East. The area of the river is regarded as the park of fish. The reason for that is because there are tons of fish that live up there hunting for food. It has become the interesting activities that most tourist like to enjoy.[5]

Lam Phaya Temple Folk Floating Market Museum[edit]

The temple were build to exhibited the lifestyle of folk people who live in the community as an community of cultural integration. It was opened in 2000 with the construction of a Thai house made of wood. There are two floor in the museum. The first floor displays some agriculture tools and the community folk boats. Walking through the second floor displays lots of the artificial (pottery, sculpture) which were made and used by folk people. It is the place where they collect things like an evidence from period to period which explained how the community glow. Most of them were given from people who live in the community.

The market offers a boat ride on the Tha Chin River. There are some boat options for tourists to choose from. Firstly, a traditional lazy rowboat, which takes around half an hour from Lam Phaya Temple to Chao Mae Tubtim Shrine, the popular shrine where people respectably worship not just local people but also the foreigner. Secondly, a round trip by a tugboat which will take tourists from Lam Phaya Temple to Sukwatanaram Temple. Tourists can also join the fish feeding activity in front of the Temple. And lastly, a boat with canopy, which will take around two and a half hour from Lam Phaya Temple to Bang Phra Temple (LuangPor Pin Temple).
