Private vehicle is the only reasonable way to reach the park. Safari Eye,located in Kampala, can help to arrange tours, transportation, and accommodation for the park.

If you are staying in the nearby city of Mbarara, you can negotiate with one of the taxi drivers at the bus park for a trip to Lake Mburo NP, including traveling to and from the park, driving through the park, and waiting while you take the boat tour of Lake Mburo. The total trip by taxi should cost between 200,000 and 250,000 Ugandan shillings.

Entrance fees are required but the cost is minimal. Adults pay US$40, children US$20.

Game Drives: These can be done either in the morning or afternoon. Lake Mburo is also known as the "home of the zebra", as they are here in abundance. Other animal species seen on a game drive are impala, buffalo, bushbucks, elanda, warthogs, topi and giraffes.

Bird Watching: Over 300 bird species call this amazing park home.

Nature Walks: These are conducted on foot, usually accompanied by an armed ranger guide who will explain to the visitors about the various fauna and flora.

Boat Cruise: On the famous Lake Mburo, which is within the national park itself. A variety of birds like the African fish eagle, the African Finfoot, cormorants, kingfishers and herons are seen on a boat cruise in lake Mburo.

Horse riding: Horse riding tours are conducted by Mihingo Lodge inside the park. Horse riding gives a spectacular view of the park's terrain and wildlife

Some limited cabins and dorms exist. Try to book ahead. Mhingo Lodge is a comfortable safari camp, built just on the edge of the park. Deluxe safari tents with thatched roofs, attached bathroom with shower and toilet. Central dining room and bar. Swimming pool. Horse-back safaris.
