Igaliko is in Southern Greenland.
Igaliko is a town in Southern Greenland by a trader and colonialist Anders Olsen and Tuperna a Greenlander in 1783. It has a population of 30 people.
There is a possibility to come in by boat from the town of Itilleq.
The village is small enough to go on foot.
Igaliko has some very important remains of a Norse settlement known as Garðar. It was the heart of Christianity in Greenland and it was the main place of the bishops; having a Diocese and a cathedral there. it was one of the most important towns in Norse Greenland. There are also remains of other buildings there and around. Seeing the Northern Lights is a must.
This is said to be the most beautiful town in Greenland (Kalaallit Nunaat, with its green fields full of yellow flowers in the summer and sheep roaming around gives nearly a perfect place to relax and enjoy walks. Kayaking in the gigantic fjord is a must too. Also doing rock-climbing or wanting to have an adventure can be done by doing the Illerfissalik (1662m tall).
