Hsu Lei Hnin
Hsu Lei Hnin (also known as "Pan War City") is one of the most famous cities in Kachin State because of its unique weather. The population of the town is nearly 9000.
People usually love what they don’t have. For Myanmar, as a tropical region, snow in winter is quite rare. However, snow is commonplace in Pan War City, the northernmost town of Myanmar. It is situated near the border of China and Myanmar. The city has an area of 1355 square miles, and is surrounded by high mountains and hills with almost no flat land.
The NDA-K army is lead by U Scote Htain Yain in Pan War City. The neighboring cities are Wine Mor City and Chi Phway City. The main ethnic groups are Law-Waw, Lar-Chate, and Lisue, which are the different ethnic groups of Kachin State.
It’s always cold throughout the whole year. The highest temperature is 18 degrees Celsius. Winter is the coldest time for Pan War City, as the temperature falls down to -18 degrees Celsius.
You have to travel for about 10 miles, though Chi Pway-Pan Wah road by cycle, but the route is quite rough. Another way is to travel to China by plane then back to Myitkyina by car, which may take only six hours. The city is served by three nearby airports.
Although Myanmar has a tropical monsoon climate, Pan War City has weather similar to that in many European countries. It is almost always snowing in the winter, and feels cool even in summer. It’s the unique attraction of Pan War City. People who like the cold weather will enjoy the city. Other attractions like Su Taung Pyae pagoda and a Christian church can be also found.
Pan War City accommodation can be a little expensive because hotels or motels are hard to come by.
