This article is a travel topic
Golf is a well established sport in England. It has in excess of 1,900 golf clubs according to the English Golf Union. Men's Golf has been organised on a National basis since 1924, although this is later than in the other British Isles and the United States. That being said many of England's golf clubs have long histories.
One of Golf's Major Competions, The Open Championship is held in England approximately every two years. It was held in England in 2011 at Royal St George's in Sandwich, Kent and Royal Lytham & St Annes in Lancashire in 2012. This was the first time consecutive Opens had ever been held in England. It will next host The Open in 2014 at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club, often called Hoylake after the town where its clubhouse is located.
