The Engadine is in Switzerland, in the canton Graubunden.

The main language is Swiss German in the Upper Engadine and Romansh in the Lower Engadine. Swiss-German is the lingua franca while Standard German is taught in schools, so Romansh-speakers usually speak all three. English is also useful. Italian is commonly known in Upper Engadine. In the village of Maloja, the local language is Lombard, but also German, Swiss German and Italian are spoken.
