Didsbury is a suburb of Manchester, some 4 miles south of the city centre. It is a mostly affluent, residential area. The area known as "the village" is home to many bars, cafes, restaurants and shops of quality. Didsbury is often a destination of choice for many people , from elsewhere in the city and beyond, for a meal or drink, in one of the many such bars and restaurants, some of which spill out onto the streets in the summer months.
Didsbury is close to junction 5 of Manchester's ring road, the M60 motorway. Manchester Airport, the busiest airport in the UK outside London, is about 4 miles (6.5 km) to the south.
Didsbury is served by several bus routes into Manchester city centre, The Trafford Centre, Northenden, and other destinations. Wilmslow Road provides Didsbury with a regular bus service due to the strong demand for travel by students along the corridor. The service is cheap and passengers rarely have to wait more than a couple of minutes. According to some analysts, Wilmslow Road is the busiest bus corridor in Europe.
There are regular busses to take you around Didsbury. They average cost is about £1. There is also a Metrolink service which runs from Manchester but there stops at didsbury at 3 stations (East Didsbury, Didsbury Village and west didsbury)
