Other destinations[edit]

Understand[edit]

The Gorge is 28 km long and makes a pleasant stop on the way to Todra Gorge and sand dunes of Merzouga. The gorge is scenic, with different types of interesting and unusual geological formations in a beautiful landscape with berber villages, plantations and the Dades river. Arguably, the most scenic parts are in the middle. The end of the gorge is characterized by a deep dramatic canyon.

Talk[edit]

Tourist area - People speak English and French.

Buses stop in Boumalne. From there take a grand taxi or Mini Bus (around 8-10 DH) to the Gorge. The Mini Bus goes all the way (60+ km) to Messina.

The Guesthouses are referenced by km from Boumalne.

Stay safe[edit]

Get out[edit]

  • back to Tinghir and from there you can go to everywhere. Tinghir does not see many tourists - everybody moves on. Bus station (5 minutes) from Grand Taxi Place - face main street (bank on opposite side); turn left and go towards Park and Cafes. Behind Park is the bus station with many Grand Taxi and Minibus. Note: Big bus for example [email protected] and CTM bus stops in front of the bus station either left or right of the "entrance" and might be delayed (for example I waited an extra hour).
  • If you start early (8am) and feel adventurous then you can go by local transport to Merzouga. I did not do it, my guide outlined the itinerary :
 1) Dades - Tinghir
 2) grand taxi to Tinejdad (more people - easier/more minibus)
 3) Minibus to Erfoud
 4) Minibus to Rissani
 5) Grand taxi to Merzouga
