Cesenatico is a city in Emilia-Romagna (in the Romagna region). It is a very famous seaside resort town on the Adriatic Coast, also notable for its stunning old town.

Get in[edit]

By car[edit]

Cesenatico is easy to get to from the A14 highway. The nearest highway exits are: Cesena, Valle Del Rubicone and Rimini Nord.

By train[edit]

There is a train station in Cesenatico. The Cesenatico station is located on the railway line Rimini-Ravenna.

By bus[edit]

There are local buses and suburban buses in Cesenatico. There is a regular bus service from Cesena railway station (bus 94). The local public transport company is Start Romagna.

By plane[edit]

The nearest airports are in Rimini and Bologna. You can easily reach Cesenatico by public transport from these two airports.

  • The Porto Canale: the heart of the old town and of the historical Cesenatico, built according to the project of Leonardo Da Vinci. The Porto Canale is composed by four different streets: Via Carlo Armellini, Via Giordano Bruno, Via Marino Moretti and Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi.
  • The Museo della marineria (Museum of maritime): there is a land section, in a building located in Via Armellini and the free-entry water section located in the middle of the Porto Canale.
  • The Antiquarium: civic museum located in Via Armellini
  • The Cesenatico skyscraper (Grattacielo Marinella): one of the symbol of the town, located in Piazza Andrea Costa.

In Cesenatico you cand find a lot of different shops. Viale Carducci is the main Cesenatico shopping street in the seased area, Corso Garibaldi instead is the main shopping street in the historical Cesenatico.

In Cesenatico you can find many well-known chain stores like Sisley, United Colours of Benetton, Calzedonia, Mondadori, John Ashfield, Champion, Scout, JMP, Brandina, Yamamay, Natur House, in addition to many other indipendent and exclusive shops.

The most popular regional food is the worldwide renowed 'Piadina Romagola, which you can taste in many traditional kiosks or piadineria shops in whole Cesenatico.

Ice creams[edit]

In Cesenatico you can find many options to eat a real italian handmade gelato. One of the most famous place is "Mu", a self-service handmade ice cream shop located in the old town (Via Armellini 24), in which the customer can compose by himself his own gelato. The Nuovo Fiore (in Viale Carducci) is the oldest ice cream shop in the town and also provide a cafè and seating options. Other notable gelaterie are: Iceberg, Cremeria Da Vinci, CioccolatiItaliani, Puro & Bio, Gelateria del porto, Il Giglio, Dalla Barbara, Fonte del Gelato, Manzelli, La Scintilla and many others.

In Cesenatico you cand find a lot of cafès, bars, pubs and discobars (the most of these are opened only in spring-summer). There are two irish pubs: Mamy's Pub and Pub Maraffa, two rock/punk pubs: The Brews and Caffè degli artisti. For the aperitivo the best two places are Marè, on the Levante beach, and the Mapicò, in the Old Town. In the old town you can find also Tiki Comber, one of the most notable concept cocktail bars, famous for its experimental cocktails. Other famous drinking options are: Sloppy Joe's, Bodeguilla, Ciringhito, Clandestino, Scalo 17, Pasareja, Approdo and the Zabar.

In Cesenatico, obviously, people speaks Italian. Many commercial signs are both in Italian and German, as well as in English. English is fairly widespread. German and French are also widespread.

Very widespread among the local people is the Romagnolo dialect.
