The Carnival Freedom[1] embarks from Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Florida for its Caribbean sailings and from Civitavecchia, Italy for its European sailings.

Built in 2007, The Freedom 952 feet in length and weighs 110,000 tons. The ship is registered out of Panama. The Freedom has 1,150 crew members on board and can hold 2,974 passengers.

The Carnival Freedom travels to the Western Caribbean and depending on the sailing, makes stops in: Freeport and Nassau in the Bahamas, Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands, Costa Maya in Mexico, Ocho Rios in Jamaica, and Key West, Florida.

For the Freedom's Eastern Caribbean sailings, it makes stops in Half Moon Cay and Nassau in the Bahamas, St. Thomas in the US U.S. Virgin Islands, San Jaun in Puerto Rico, Grand Turk, St. Maarten, Antigua, and Tortola in the British Virgin Islands.

The Freedom also travels to Europe with 12 day Mediterranean & Greek Isles, 12 day Grand Mediterranean, and 9 day Mediterranean voyages. The 12 day Mediterranean & Greek Isles cruise departs from Civitavecchia, Italy and travels to Naples Italy, Rhodes Greece, Izmir Turkey, Istanbul Turkey, Athens Greece, Katakolon Greece, and Livorno Italy.

The 12 day Grand Mediterranean cruise also departs from Civitavecchia and makes stops in Naples Italy, Dubrovnik Croatia, Venice Italy, Messina Sicily, Barcelona Spain, Cannes France, and Livorno Italy.

The 9 day European cruise departs from Venice Italy and sails through the Mediterranean making stops in Dubrovinik Croatia, Katakolon Greece, Athens Greece, Izmir Turkey, Rhodes Greece, and Civitavecchia (Rome) Italy.

In addition to the Carnival Freedom's European cruises, the ship also makes transatlantic voyages. For its 14 day sailing, the Freedom departs from Miami, Florida and travels across the Atlantic stopping in St. Maarten, Funchal Madeira Portugal, Malaga Spain, Livorno Italy, and disembarking in Civtavecchia (Rome) Italy. The 16 day transatlantic sailings depart from Civtavecchia and makes stops in Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca Spain, Malaga Spain, Las Palmas Canary Islands, St. Maarten, and disembarks in Fort Lauderdale Florida.

The Freedom provides guests with variety of entertainment options and on board activities to choose from. The ship features three swimming pools, one children’s' pool, a 214 foot water slide, hot tubs, and sun decks. Also on board is a 13,300 square foot spa with gym. On board there is nightly entertainment with Vegas-style shows in the ship's theatre. The ship also has the Carnival Seaside Theater which features a huge movie screen poolside. Other daily entertainment includes poolside games, comedians, magicians, singers, and game shows. Entertainment changes on a daily basis so Carnival provides its guests with a daily Carnival Caper which outlines the activities available on board each day. Kids are provided with entertainment as well, with Club Carnival which has daily organized activities for children 2-14. Teens, ages 15-17, can enjoy Club O2 which also provides organized activities and games as well as theme parties and a teen-only club on board. In addition to these activities, the Freedom has a casino, library, internet cafe, 70s dance club, shopping, and 22 bars and lounges for guests to enjoy.

Cruise ships offer tax free on board shopping. The shops on board sell items such as souvenirs, jewelry and watches, clothing and accessories, perfume and cologne, and alcohol that can be bought on board and is delivered to the guest’s cabin to take home after the cruise.

There are multiple restaurants and dining options on board. Both sit down meals and buffets are available to guests. In one week, guests on the ship will be served 6,480 pounds of chicken, 2,150 pounds of lobster, 3,200 steaks, and 23,750 shrimp!

There are 22 bars and lounges on board. Additionally, the restaurants, club, casino, and theatres serve alcohol.

80% of the staterooms on board have ocean views and 80% of those have balconies. Carnival features staterooms that are bigger than those of other cruise lines, and the Carnival Freedom has especially large rooms. Interior staterooms are the most affordable and 185 sq. ft. Ocean view staterooms are the same size but offer a picture window. Balcony staterooms are also the same size but have an additional private balcony. Suites are the largest with 245-300 sq. ft. plus a private balcony, separate sitting area, refrigerator, bathtub, and walk in closet.
