Barra de Navidad
Barra de Navidad is a town in Jalisco.
Barra is about an hour's drive north from Manzanillo on a good road.
Only 1/2 hour drive from the Manzanillo airport, and a 350 peso cab ride.
Barra de Navidad is such a small lovely town that you can walk all of it in a couple of minutes. You can allway get a cab in case you don't feel like walking.
In Barra de Navidad, the most common place to walk around is the Malecon. The government have try to fix it recently. You will have great views from the bay and the Lagoon. You can also walk through the beach around the Bay.
Surfing The beach is pretty good for beginners and a bit more advanced surfers alike. It is steeper than in Sayulita, so you have to paddle pretty hard to get out instead of walking, but the waves are rather small and easy to get on. There is one professional surf shop close to the beach.
There are several small shops with many souvenirs as well as clothing specially in the main streets.
Try the Pipi Burritos and Hamburgers located on the main street. They are almost always full so maybe you will have to wait some time but it worth it. You can grab a beer while you are at it.
Seamasters/Mexico Lindo is one of the more popular restaurants beachside, serving traditional Mexican fare cooked well. Popeye's makes a great Molecajete, and Banana's is the favourite for breakfast/brunch. Sunset Margaritas at the Hotel Elondra are perfect for photo ops and cost friendly (happy hour 2 for 1 drinks). Just be careful making your way down the long staircase when you're ready to go home!
