Aungban is a town located in the southern part of Shan State. It is located in the Kalaw Township, part of Taunggyi. It lies 4219 feet above sea level. The climate is warm and temperate. The huge and highly popular street market circulates on a five-day rota system between the neighbouring towns of Kalaw, Pindaya, Heho, Nyaung Shwe and Aung Ban. Aung Ban is the largest and busiest as well as the one that sees the least tourists. Mostly Pa-O and Palaung, flock into town from surrounding villages along with local Shan farmers. It’s a highly colourful and vibrant scene.

Kalaw, Pindaya, Taunggyi, Heho, and Innlay are the nearest town with Aungban. From Aungban to Kalaw, it only 9.5 miles far. There is also a trekking way from Kalaw to Aungban. There are also a lot of tourist attractions places in Kalaw such as Myoma Monastery Myin Ma Thi village (temple + caves), etc. It only 24 miles far from Aungban to Pindaya. Heho is the gate way to Inle Lake and you can see the culture of local people and different types of living style.

At Aungban market, you can buy fresh vegetables because of the majority of agricultural products mainly potato, garlic, ginger, tomato and so on. You can also buy the seasonal fruits and souvenirs of Shan tradition.

At the market, there is a traditional liquor. You should have a taste on this because you can only get at the market. For breakfast, lunch and dinner, u can have at the hotel or u can try Shan traditional restaurant.
