Židikai is a small village in Lithuania.
Židikai is located in Žemaitija region, in the west part of Lithuania.
Židikai name has been originated from the words Žydi kaip laukas (it blooms like a field), or from the word Židikis (tough).
For the very first time Židikai was mentioned in 1568. Since 1614 it belonged to Kražiai Jesuits.
Židikai is famous because popular Lithuanian authoress and educational Šatrijos Ragana lived there from 1915 until her death in 1930.
It is possible to get to Židikai by bus from Mažeikiai. Normally buses go twice a day - in the morning and in the afternoon.
Židikai is a typical small village of Lithuania therefore everything can be seen by foot just in a few hours.
When you are in Židikai you can check if there are any concerts or theaters in Židikai Centre of Culture (located close to the church). There you can often watch performances of students of Židikai Music School and Židikai Marija Pečkauskaitė Secondary School as well as shows of Židikai folk club.
It is possible to buy souvenirs with Židikai symbolics (cups etc.) in grocery shop in front of Šatrijos Ragana's museum.

Whereas Židikai does not have any sleeping places for tourists you can find one in the bigger city of Mažeikiai which is about 21 km away from Židikai.
