If you want to specialize your experience you may want to consider editing your preferences. Before uploading please take a second to read over the copyleft, policies and guidelines, and the image policy but feel free to upload travel images. CC by-sa 2.0 images[edit]

Hi, I've noticed that you've been uploading loads of CC by-sa 2.0 or higher from Flickr. There's been a lot of debate whether those images are compatible with our 1.0 licence or not, but consensus is that they are not (which is a shame, of course, because Flickr CC directory is full of excellent images). Could you please clarify your reasons for uploading them here then? Ricardo (Rmx) 20:27, 21 October 2006 (EDT)

Ciao, Gobbler, come stai? Have you been following the ongoing discussions at the traveller's pub? It looks like cc-by-sa-1.0 and 2+ licenses can somehow be considered compatible for our purposes, which would leave room for uploading appropriate flickr stuff without causing major problems. I think you'd like to know that and maybe join the talks. Cheers, -- Ricardo (Rmx) 10:31, 21 February 2007 (EST)

Please contact me[edit]

Could you please send me an email I'd like to share my private contact information with you, so if there are performance problems on it: in the future, you can get help faster. --Evan 16:15, 23 October 2006 (EDT)

Done

And thanks...[edit]

By the way, I'd like to say molte grazie for uploading so many useful images from Wikimedia Commons and elsewhere. You're helping make Shared and incredibly richer place. Arrivederci! Ricardo (Rmx) 19:25, 26 October 2006 (EDT)

Great work keeping up with new uploads and pointing out licensing issues! I really appreciate the effort you're putting into keeping Shared growing on track. Maj 12:57, 16 November 2006 (EST)

Uploading[edit]

Hey, since you've been doing a lot of uploading I wanted to ask you a favor. Before you add any information about an image in the "Summary" boxes would you please click in the Summary box, then scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click on the "Image Credit" template. This will automagically import the template into the Summary box. To use the template simply fill out all of the values. When you use the "Location=" value simply type in the the name of the place the image was taken, don't link to the page. Jani edited the template which reads the input and automagically turns what you type into a link and categorizes the image. Thanks. -- Andrew Haggard (Sapphire) 04:47, 10 January 2007 (EST)

W66 images[edit]

If I'm not mistaken you may want to double and possibly triple check every image you upload from World 66. W66 uses a script to include images from the net, which means non-CC-by-SA 1.0 images are on W66. Simply because an image is on the W66 site doesn't make it "free" and as you know, uploading those images is a copyvio. -- Sapphire(Talk) • 21:46, 29 April 2007 (EDT)

Votes for deletion[edit]

Hello!

Thank you for the images you've uploaded[1]. But I had to add them to Votes for deletion page, because I could not confirm their license. So please vote to keep the images within 14 days counting from the date of the deletion nomination, if you can prove them to be innocent. Thanks. -- Tatata 02:47, 21 August 2007 (EDT)

Image:Fishignet.jpg and Image:Kleftiko in milos.jpg were added to VFD page. Would you check the page? -- Tatata 00:06, 4 September 2007 (EDT)
I think this photo should not be tagged {{PD-creator}}. So I added it VFD page. But I also think there is a way to use it on Wikitravel if other users don't oppose... -- Tatata 01:25, 16 September 2007 (EDT)

Image:Jingli.jpeg[edit]

Hello Gobbler!

Though I'm not sure about its licence too, it seems that we can use CC-BY images on Wikitravel. Please see following discussions.

But, according to the Legal Code , it seems that we should not handle the image itself as licensed under CC-BY-SA 1.0, but handle it as licensed under CC-BY 1.0. Because 4. Restrictions.-a. says that You may not offer or impose any terms on the Work that alter or restrict the terms of this License or the recipients' exercise of the rights granted hereunder. You may not sublicense the Work. Thus I think you have to change the licensing tag from {{cc-by-sa-1.0}} to {{cc-by-1.0}}. -- Tatata 09:50, 9 September 2007 (EDT)

Template:Attribution[edit]

Hi, I copied the contents of Template:Copyrighted-Layout into Template:Attribution and tweaked it. Template:Copyrighted-Layout is not used now, so I'll add it to VFD page.

Template:Attribution seems to me to be an appropriate tag for the image. But, at this time, I don't know whether the template is valid on Wikitravel or not. I think it is needed that a step toward an official use of the template. I'm afraid that somebody says the template is invalid here. Do you have any idea to make it an official template here? After it becomes official, I'd like to add it to Tags#Licensing and licensing pull down list on Special:Upload page (MediaWiki:Licenses). -- Tatata 13:10, 19 September 2007 (EDT)
