Wikitravel should install the MediaWiki Collection extension. Basically, this is a "bookmark a set of pages" function that you can use to assemble your very own travel guide:

This extension allows to organize personal selections of pages in a collection. Collections can be

  • edited & structured using chapters
  • persisted & loaded, shared
  • rendered as PDF
  • exported as ODF Text Document (.odt)
  • exported as DocBook XML
  • ordered as a printed book

The last of these would be done through Wikitravel Press, and it would mean that you can add (say) Istanbul, Dublin, and Cairo into your shopping basket, and we would then print a single guidebook covering all three.

Collections is planned to be rolled out on Wikipedia "soon", but in the meantime, you can see it live at eg. the OpenOffice.org wiki -- see "My Collections" in the left sidebar. Jpatokal 01:29, 1 August 2008 (EDT)
