Madeira è dotata di areoporto internazionale (noto in passato con il nome di areoporto di Santa Catarina), a 30 minuti da Funchal. La sua sigla è (LPMA) o (FNC).
Anche l'isola di Porto Santo ha il suo areoporto ad appena 15 minuti di volo da Madeira.
Non esistono collegamenti diretti con l'Italia. Occorrerà cambiare all'areoporto di Lisbona. Le compagnie che operano all'areoporto di Funchal sono le seguenti:
C'è un traghetto che collega le ddue isole. Il tragitto dura due ore.
Il Portoghese è facilmente comprensibile per noi Italiani. All'inizio può sembrare assai ostico per chi ne è completamente a digiuno ma se si presta attenzione, dopo pochi minuti si comincia ad afferrarne il senso. Non sarebbe male comunque imparare qualche frase in Portoghese.per far piacere agli isolani.
