Are people listed under where they are from, or where they currently are? -- Brendio

I guess it's up to you and your preference. I've put that I'm from St Helens but I'm living in Wales at the moment BarrY 20:21, 12 Jan 2006 (EST)

How do I add myself to this list - and can i add myself in more than one country as i'm writing on Ireland and Britain Murfsmurf 11:05, 18 August 2006 (EDT)

Click edit, Type Murfsmurf (city or country or whatever), click save page. Why not just put your name directly under United Kingdom header? (somebody)

It would be cool if there were a tag on userpages for Home (or something) that automatically filled this page. Guess that should go in suggestions...somewhere.justfred

Hmph. justfred 15:01, 5 October 2006 (EDT) not working on this page? Aha, someone dropped in a nowiki tag. --justfred 15:01, 5 October 2006 (EDT)

ShoUld we?¿[edit]

Should we put inactive or delete the people who aren't active anymore. I think it is much easier that way to know who's really around in the area. What do you think? Keep smiling, Edmontonenthusiast 12:01, 28 October 2008 (EDT)

I think I should bump this as it's been 5 days and see just incase no one sayw it! Keep smilimng ,Edmontonenthusiast 16:02, 2 November 2008 (EST).
Unfortunately, I think the page is generally beyond hope. People have to add themselves, so its unlikely to ever be complete. Some people will visit once, add themselves, and other significant contributors who aren't defined by their geography won't add themselves at all. Best to check the history pages of the articles for who is active in an area. It may not bear any resemblance to their location anyway. --Inas 17:40, 2 November 2008 (EST)
I would be very much opposed to removing people from this list - some of the people who have been most influential in the creation of this site are no longer active, but that does not make them any less of a "Wikitraveller". Special:Recentchanges is the best way to see who is active at any given time; let's leave this page is a record of who has contributed during the life of the project. -- Ryan • (talk) • 17:58, 2 November 2008 (EST)
Inas: yeah, I've done that, it's just this would be easier.
Ryan: Hey! Well, I would prefer not to delete them. But I think we should do some thing like this: say you are no longer active: Wrh2 (whatever your city) {inactive) like that... Thoughts? Keep smiling, Edmontonenthusiast 14:07, 3 November 2008 (EST).

Split UK into counties?[edit]

I live in the UK but I'm not an expert on anything other than the Gloucestershire. I think we should split British countries down to county level. Failing that, regional level such as Midlands, South etc. Anyone else? Evilandi 06:38, 6 November 2008 (EST)

I'm not really sure it's needed. The list of Wikitravellers in the UK is pretty short, and we all have our more specific location after our names (e.g. I appear as Neil Shaw (County Durham) ). Plus if you know a particular place well, add yourself as a docent and you'll appear on there (have a look at the left menus on Durham_(England). Probably more useful given more people will see you listed from an article that from looking at the list of Wikitravellers by location (I'd think, anyway). Nrms 06:44, 6 November 2008 (EST)
