Wikitravel:Time and date formats
When giving times and dates, such as for opening and closing times of attractions, restaurants and bars, use the following format.
Use the format of 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. It can be assumed that time is in the local timezone.
Use noon and midnight, not 12 a.m. or 12 p.m.
- Decimals not used when not required, eg 5 p.m., not 5:00 p.m.
- Where decimals are required, use a colon as the separator, e.g. 5:30 p.m., not 5.30 p.m. or 5-30 p.m.
- 12-hour format rather than 24-hour format, e.g. 5 p.m., not 1700.
Days of the Week
Spell out the entire day of the week when used to show when a store is open.
Tuesday through Friday at 3:32 p.m. to 4:34 p.m.
Use the date format of 10 Jan 2003.
Abbreviate months to three letters, i.e. Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec.
All numeric dates can be misinterpreted. Avoid using dates of the form 10/1/03. This example would mean 10 Jan 2003 or 1 Oct 2003 to different people.
