This page describes the criteria for determining the article status of Country guide articles.

Status Name Description
0 Vfd Not an article, with a page name that has little or no prospect of being turned into an article or being redirected to an article. While it may contain information, that information does not meet Wikitravel's goals.
1 Stub An article with little or no information in it, or not formatted even close to the manual of style. An article with no template would have this status.
2 Outline Has at least the normal introductory paragraph (this can be as short as a single sentence describing where the country is) and a template outline laid out for the article. Some of the sections of the template may have content, but not necessarily all of them. Parts of the CIA factbook import may still be visible.
3 Usable Has links to at least a couple cities and/or region guides ("usable" status or better), and a Get in section describing all of the typical ways to get there. Information about the country's currency, language, cuisine and culture is included. At least the most prominent attraction is identified with directions. The CIA factbook import has been completely integrated with the article.
4 Guide Gives you different choices for which regions or cities to visit ("usable" status or better), and information on multiple attractions and things to do. Listings and layout closely match the manual of style. There will be multiple ways to get in, some suggestions for moving out, and information on getting around.
5 Star Has a tourist-style map showing all the linked destinations ("guide" status or better) and routes between them. The format either matches the manual of style exactly or is the exception that proves the rule. Prose is not only near-perfect grammatically but also tight, effective, and enjoyable. At least one good-quality photo accompanies the article; preferably 2-3 showing famous or important attractions.

Insert the Wiki Markup listed below in order to display a guide's maturity rating:
