This page describes the criteria for determining the article status of City and District guide articles.
| Status | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | Vfd | Not an article, with a page name that has little or no prospect of being turned into an article or being redirected to an article. While it may contain information, that information does not meet Wikitravel's goals. |
| 1 | Stub | An article with little or no information in it, or not formatted even close to the manual of style. An article with no template would have this status. |
| 2 | Outline | Has at least the normal introductory paragraph (this can be as short as a single sentence describing where it is located) and a template outline laid out for the article. Some of the sections of the template may have content, but not all of them. |
| 3 | Usable | Has at least a Get In section and one Eat and Sleep listing each with contact information. At least the most prominent attraction is identified with directions. |
| 4 | Guide | Has different choices for accommodation and eating/drinking, and information on multiple attractions and things to do. Listings and layout closely match the manual of style. For huge city articles, all district articles are at least "usable" status. There will be multiple ways to get in, some suggestions for moving out, and information on getting around. |
| 5 | Star | Has a tourist-style map, in Wikitravel style with modifiable vector source, showing how to get around the destination, with major attractions, restaurants, etc. that match the listings in the guide. Layout and listing formats either match the manual of style exactly or are the exception that proves the rule. Any district articles are at least "guide" status. Prose is not only near-perfect grammatically but also tight, effective, and enjoyable. At least one good-quality photo accompanies the article; preferably 2-3 showing famous or important attractions. |
