Wikitravel:31 May 2007
I've been moving to our new house all day, so I've been off-line and may have missed the boat on this. But there was a story on the AP wire about Web sites for travel. Whoever wrote it is a bit clueless, though: WikiTravel.org, a wiki dedicated to travel, won the 2007 Webby Award for best travel site. Like Wikipedia.com, it is susceptible to false information contributed from users. (Unlike other travel web sites and information sources, which are immune to false information.) Kind of hard to believe that those Webby judges gave the Best Travel Site nod to a site whose main characteristic is how wrong it is!
It's interesting that the same writer covered a press inaccuracy web site only a few months ago -- Regret the Error is pretty awesome. Anyways, I don't love the angle of the story, but we may see some more traffic because of it. --Evan 21:57, 30 May 2007 (EDT)
