Watauga County

There are 100 counties in North Carolina. Watauga County is one of them. Boone is the biggest town in Watauga County, it is also the county seat. Watauga is in northwestern North Carolina, along the Tennessee border.


In 1849 this county was formed from parts of 4 others, it was named for the Watauga River.



Watauga is a popular desination, especially for in-state tourists. It is part of the Appalachian Mountains, a very nice area for a vacation.


The local sights can be amazing.


English is the dominate language


Appalachian State University: Part of the North Carolina state system, located in Boone.
