Hello Wojsyl!

Welcome to Wikitravel. Please take a sec to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Wikitravel:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.

Thank you for your contributions. However, I notice all your edits have been minor. Please uncheck the minor edit checkbox if you are adding content or changing meanings. Minor edits should be reserved for spelling mistakes, format and layout changes, links and the like, where the meaning of the article is not changed. -- Huttite 15:46, 27 Dec 2004 (EST)

Thanks. I assumed that minor are just changes that are not major. I'll try to remember to comply. Wojsyl 16:44, 27 Dec 2004 (EST) Oops, did this again :-)

Image Copyrights[edit]

Hi, you're doing a great job! Could you please label your uploaded images with copyright information (see Wikitravel:Image policy#Copyright). This helps us to ensure that all images on Wikitravel have been legally uploaded. You can just go to the image pages and hit 'edit' to add the information. Checkout Image:Mammoth Mountain.jpg for an example of how the copyright can be expressed if you took the picture yourself. -- Colin 22:54, 28 Dec 2004 (EST)

Good, will do. I only post pictures that I took myself, but I'll make it clear. Wojsyl 05:41, 29 Dec 2004 (EST)

Articles[edit]

Before you create the article for Filiremos monastary, please ask yourself the question, How many accommodation places can a traveller choose between to stay there overnight? If you cannot answer and list a lot more than one then please read Wikitravel:What is an article?. -- Huttite 19:15, 31 Dec 2004 (EST)

Image usage in articles[edit]

Please have a look at Wikitravel:Image_policy#Minimal_use_of_images. While your enthusiasim for writing articles is greatly welcome, please try and confine yourself to one, (at most two), image per article. For example: Rhodes has 4 images, the second two, of donkeys and town of Lindos would be better in the Lindos article. -- Huttite 19:31, 31 Dec 2004 (EST)

Thanks. Although I do not sympathise with the rationale behind this particular policy, I usually try not to post more than 2 images per article and I'm trying to use only images specifically illustrating the subject of the article. The pics of the donkeys etc. that you mention were not mine and I agree that although donkeys may be nice, they don't necessarily look very different in any particular location. Contractions[edit]

I notice you have a habit of typing there're and there's instead of there are and there is. To help us find these contractions I have added them to the Wikitravel:List of common misspellings, which is used by the spell checker. -- Huttite 20:35, 31 Dec 2004 (EST)

I will try to avoid contractions then, but out of curiosity: what is the reason for that ? The seem shorter and easier to read. Wojsyl 20:45, 31 Dec 2004 (EST)
Professional looking English. Please remember some of our readers (eg computer translators) are not native English speakers and may be confused by unusual or ambiguous contractions. And if I do not correct it someone else will. -- Huttite 21:03, 31 Dec 2004 (EST)

Sure, I do not mind. Thanks for your patience :-) and happy new year. Wojsyl 21:07, 31 Dec 2004 (EST)

Bodies of water - Links to Rhine[edit]

I noticed that you linked Schaffhausen to Rhine. I assume that this is the river Rhine. Please read Wikitravel:Bodies of water before creating, or even inserting linking to a potential article about a river. Unless there is a very good reason for making the river a destination - i.e. can you sleep there - it would be better not to have the link. -- Huttite 07:10, 1 Jan 2005 (EST)

Baltic[edit]

I am not creating the mess with Baltic Sea and other Baltic articles, nor am I confusing Eastern/Northern Europe and the Baltics. I see the Baltic countries as a legitimate region in Europe. Quite how they are shoehorned into the larger articles of Eastern Europe, Central Europe and Northern Europe is something that has to be worked out. The Baltic is a body of water that touches on all those articles so should refer to all of them. I do not see it as a confusion but a clarification and a mutiplicity of views. The promugation of such alternative views appear to have been curtailed by the activities of a previous editor who has suppressed these articles before. In many respects I am undoing the activities of a revisionist historian and adding richness to the subject of Europe. -- Huttite 17:43, 5 Feb 2005 (EST)

Schaffhausen[edit]

Hello Wojsyl, the photo you show from Schaffhausen is actually from Feuerthalen, the neighbour village... May I send you some photos from Schaffhausen (I don't know how to upload them)?

Best, Regina
